Annotation: The factors of discrepancies between the current and census population records of the Russian Federation are revealed. The refusal to record the actual population in three censuses led to the impossibility of verifying their results, as well as to the tendency of adding migrants to the permanent population, who are de facto the actual population of the Russian Federation.
