Annotation: Abstract. The article examines the dynamics of small business in Russia in 2020–2026 based on the Unified Register of SMEs of the Federal Tax Service. Key reasons for mass closures of small retail enterprises are identified: high key rate, increased tax burden, competition from marketplaces. The impact of Internet instability on operations (online cash registers, acquiring, marking systems) is studied. A set of state support measures is proposed to increase the survival rate of the sector.
