Annotation: The article examines the attitude of university instructors towards massive open online courses (MOOCs) as a tool for modernizing the educational process. Based on the analysis of a series of semi-structured interviews with instructors from the University of Tyumen (N=9), key barriers hindering the active integration of MOOCs into educational practice are identified. Additionally, areas for development and factors that increase instructors' motivation to create and use online courses are determined. The findings can be utilized in developing management decisions in the field of higher education digitalization.
