Annotation: The article is devoted to the study of the problem of horizontal imbalance in the budget system of the Russian Federation, which is the result of differentiation of the level of development of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation: the degree of budget differentiation of the regions is analyzed, an assessment of the effectiveness of the mechanism for eliminating horizontal imbalance is given.
