Annotation: It is determined that the process of integrating the Doctrine of Food Security into the functioning of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation remains insufficiently studied to date. It is substantiated that for an objective assessment of the food independence of a region, it is necessary to use food dependence indicators and assess exactly the amount of products that the region lacks, taking into account the population size. An algorithm for assessing the indicators of own production of agricultural products is presented. The use of a food dependence scale is substantiated, which allows for an objective assessment of the indicators of its own production for any of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation. It is determined that the assessment of the food dependence of a territory, carried out on the basis of objective indicators characterizing the percentage of external supplies of agricultural products, raw materials and food, acts as the most objective assessment of food security of any administrative-territorial unit of the state. It is emphasized that acting as a basis for determining the main directions of development of the agricultural sector, this assessment can become the basis for the formation of a block of regulatory legal acts that will consolidate agricultural specialization for any of the country's constituent entities. The application of this approach makes it possible to ensure an imperative format in the activities of executive authorities when addressing issues of ensuring regional food security.
