Annotation: The report examines the population dynamics of municipalities in the Northwestern Federal District with the aim of comparatively analyzing the influence of geographic location on the population dynamics of Arctic and more southern regions. Models were constructed based on polynomials and power functions, which showed a faster outflow of population with increasing distance to the regional capital and a positive impact of vocational education institutions and salary levels.
